To my children,<\/p>\n

This is my first message to you. It\u2019s important that you understand what this blog is and what it is not.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve started this so you can come here and listen to me if there is ever a reason that you can\u2019t talk to me. There are lots of reasons that you might not be able to talk to me \u2013 I might not be around, you might be scared how people are going to react to what you say, you might be too proud to own up that you have a problem. The list goes on\u2026<\/p>\n

I\u2019m going to tell you my thoughts on a lot of different things. I\u2019m going to cover as many different topics as I can so that you can use the search function to look up topics that you need to. I can\u2019t promise to cover every eventuality and have advice for every situation that you might come across but I\u2019ll do my best to cover as many things as I can.<\/p>\n

Computers and online worlds are not a replacement for real people. If you have a worry or things are going wrong you should always try to talk to someone you trust. There might be occasions where for some reason you can\u2019t do that and so here is a place that you can always come to. You can hear my voice at any time. My real voice would be better, but failing that you can come here.<\/p>\n

So why have I put this online and not in a secret diary somewhere? Well there are a few reasons for this. Firstly, books and physical objects can\u2019t have a \u2018back up\u2019. Notebooks and letters can get lost or damaged. You\u2019ll know exactly where to come to when you want to read it \u2013 because let\u2019s face it our house can be a tip at the best of times and sometimes things get buried in a pile of \u2018stuff\u2019 and don\u2019t surface again for months. You can also access this from anywhere \u2013 you don\u2019t have to be in the right place at the right time.<\/p>\n

There is another reason that I have put it online though. Maybe someone else will find it \u2013 someone who doesn\u2019t have a mother to turn to. If this can help them too that would be great wouldn\u2019t it? It is always good to share and although you are my babies, it doesn\u2019t mean that we shouldn\u2019t try to help others.<\/p>\n

Now you must understand that my advice is not perfect. I am a human just like everyone else. You should never, ever let anyone tell you what to think and that includes me (I realise I just told you what to think but never mind). I\u2019m going to keep putting disclaimers in my posts to remind you that you should think for yourself. You have the freedom of thought and I\u2019m happy for you to think differently to me. But remember to have good reasons for your views.<\/p>\n

I want you to just remember one thing. I am your mother and whatever you have done, however bad the mistake, I\u2019ll forgive you for it. Your dad will too. I\u2019m going to do a post about forgiveness so you\u2019ll be able to read more there but for now, just remember that simple fact. A mother\u2019s love should always be unconditional \u2013 even if she does moan a bit too much at times.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
